NIOSH
This is the web-site for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This site contains an extensive list of on-line safety publications (including many dealing with chemical hazards) as well as several very extensive databases of safety-related information. One of these databases the electronic Library of Construction Occupational Safety and Health (eLCOSH) provides a wide range of materials on construction safety and health issues. Another is the National Ag Safety Database (NASD) which is a database of materials devoted to increased safety, health and injury prevention in agriculture.

This web-site has three different databases of material safety data sheets (MSDS), an on-line safety library that has more information than any person could possibly read, and over 200 Power Point presentations relative to safety. Additionally, from this web-site, you can join several different occupational safety and health mail groups (list-serves). These mailgroups and discussion boards are not on-line chat rooms, but they put you in the middle of conversations between thousands of safety professionals and enable you to ask questions, provide your insight, etc.

This is the web-site for the Australian-based WorkCover Corporation, which is constituted under the WorkCover Corporation Act, 1994. WorkCover is charged with delivering an occupational health, safety, rehabilitation and compensation system in South Australia. Although there is much more to the WorkCover web-site than industry guides, the "Safer Industries" is an intriguing element of this web-site, as it provides on-line products and programs to assist high risk industries reduce the number and cost of workplace injuries and illness. Its worth your time to see if there is industry specific information relative to the work your company performs. Even if there is not, you are likely to find some other useful safety and health information. Keep in mind that some of the information, such as how to report claims and how to pay WorkCover are not applicable to those who are simply using the web-site as an information source.
